Accounting Partner (m/f/d)

An international reference company in the retail sector, with a strong people-oriented culture focused on collaboration and continuous improvement, is looking to strengthen its Centre of Excellence in Lisbon by hiring an Accounting Partner.

Your new role

As part of a strategic Accounting Partners team, your main mission will be to ensure the accounting reliability of one or two international markets, acting as a key point of contact between local teams, the Centre of Excellence teams and the group consolidation areas.

This is a technical and strategic role, with no direct leadership responsibilities at an initial stage, but with strong international exposure, autonomy and future development potential. You will play a key role in monitoring accounting closing activities, reviewing financial information, identifying risks and driving action plans with different stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

• Actively participate in the development and consolidation of the Accounting Partner operating model;

• Ensure the accounting reliability of the market or country under your responsibility;

• Ensure compliance with internal deadlines, local regulations, group requirements and applicable accounting standards;

• Monitor monthly and quarterly closing processes, ensuring activities, deadlines and the quality of reported information are properly followed up;

• Perform periodic accounting reviews, identify potential risks and lead the corresponding action plans;

• Provide technical support to local teams and Centre of Excellence teams;

• Lead and support internal and external audits;

• Centralise communication between the internal market, consolidation teams and other group areas;

• Promote internal client satisfaction by monitoring regular feedback and implementing improvement actions;

• Contribute to continuous improvement projects, process optimisation and change management.

What you need to succeed

• Higher education degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, Economics or a similar field;

• Experience in a Big 4 environment will be highly valued

• Minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience in accounting, audit, financial consulting or similar roles;

• Knowledge of IFRS standards and a global understanding of financial and accounting processes;

• Good IT skills and confidence working with ERP systems;

• Fluency in English; knowledge of another language will be valued (as well as willingness to learn Portuguese);

• Sense of responsibility, autonomy, dynamism and problem-solving orientation, as well as a continuous improvement mindset;

• Analytical thinking, planning, organisation and attention to detail;

• Interest in young, dynamic and collaborative environments, with a strong team spirit;

• Interest in sports, wellbeing or physical activity will be considered a plus.
