Accounting & Tax Support Specialist – Portugal

Location: Porto

We're not looking for a traditional Customer Support professional with basic accounting knowledge.

We're looking for someone with hands-on experience in Portuguese accounting and taxation who understands the day-to-day work of an accountant and is excited to apply that expertise in a technology and customer-focused environment.

You may currently work as an Accounting Technician, Accountant, or accounting professional in an accounting firm, consultancy, or finance department , and you're looking for an opportunity to use your knowledge in a different way.

At Cloudware, you'll combine your accounting expertise with technology, helping customers solve complex challenges while contributing directly to the evolution of our product.

Your Role

As an Accounting & Tax Support Specialist , you'll be a trusted advisor to customers using Cloudware.

Your experience with Portuguese accounting, tax obligations, and day-to-day accounting processes will be essential to understanding customer challenges and providing accurate, practical, and high-quality guidance.

You don't need previous experience in Customer Support. Your accounting expertise is the foundation of this role.

You'll work closely with customers, Product, and Engineering, bringing real-world accounting knowledge into the product and helping shape better solutions for accounting professionals and businesses.

What You'll Do

• Provide expert remote support and practical guidance on accounting, tax, and product-related queries.

• Help customers navigate accounting workflows and processes within Cloudware.

• Configure and customize Cloudware to meet customers' business needs.

• Diagnose issues, identify root causes, and collaborate with Product and Engineering to deliver effective solutions.

• Use your accounting expertise to translate customer feedback into meaningful product improvements.

• Identify recurring accounting challenges and opportunities to improve the customer experience.

• Challenge existing processes, bring ideas to the table, and contribute to better ways of working.

• Document customer interactions and support the resolution of complex accounting scenarios.

About you

This role is designed for someone with real-world, practical experience in Portuguese accounting .

We're particularly interested in professionals who have worked directly with accounting and tax processes, either in an accounting firm, consultancy, or an internal finance/accounting team .

We're looking for someone who has:

• At least 1 year of hands-on professional experience as an Accounting Technician, Accountant, or in a similar accounting role.

• Experience working in an accounting firm, accounting consultancy, or finance/accounting department .

• Practical experience managing Portuguese accounting and tax processes.

You should have solid working knowledge of:

• Bookkeeping and accounting entries.

• Bank reconciliations.

• VAT calculation and submission.

• Portuguese tax obligations and filings, including Modelo 10, Modelo 22, IES, and related declarations .

• Payroll processing.

• Fixed asset management.

• Month-end and year-end closing processes.

Additionally, you bring:

• Native-level Portuguese and good English communication skills.

• Experience using accounting and/or tax software.

• The ability to explain accounting concepts clearly and practically to others.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• A proactive mindset with the confidence to challenge processes and suggest improvements.

• Ownership, collaboration, and genuine curiosity about technology.

• A customer-focused mindset and interest in helping others succeed.
