Job Description

You will support the External Affairs & Market Access function in delivering affiliate communications, stakeholder engagement initiatives and reputation-building activities. Working closely with brand teams and cross-functional colleagues, you will help develop and execute communication plans that advance AbbVie’s business priorities, patient-focused initiatives and corporate reputation.

Under the guidance of the External Affairs & Market Access Director, you will focus on the coordination, implementation and execution of communication and stakeholder engagement activities, helping ensure communications across the affiliate are consistent, impactful and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

• You will support the development and execution of affiliate and brand communication plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• You will coordinate internal and external communication activities that support affiliate objectives and help strengthen AbbVie’s reputation.
• You will participate in brand teams, supporting communication initiatives and stakeholder engagement activities aligned with brand priorities.
• You will develop, coordinate and distribute internal communication materials, including announcements, leadership communications, employee engagement initiatives and other affiliate communications.
• You will partner with Human Resources and other functions to support internal communications, organizational announcements and change management activities.
• You will help ensure consistency and alignment of key messages across brands, functions and communication channels.
• You will monitor the external communications environment, media landscape and stakeholder activity, identifying relevant developments and sharing insights with the External Affairs & Market Access team.
• You will draft and coordinate communication materials, including press releases, Q&As, presentations, talking points, briefing materials and stakeholder communications.
• You will support media relations activities under the guidance of the External Affairs & Market Access Director, including media monitoring, preparation of briefing materials and coordination with journalists and communications agencies.
• You will help develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, communications agencies and external partners.
• You will contribute to corporate reputation, patient engagement and corporate citizenship activities in alignment with affiliate objectives.
• You will identify, monitor and escalate issues that may affect AbbVie’s reputation, and support the implementation of agreed communication responses when required.
• You will support crisis communication preparedness activities, including maintaining materials, coordinating logistics, documenting actions and supporting response execution under the direction of senior leadership.
• You will coordinate activities with PR agencies, vendors and external partners, helping ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and in line with AbbVie standards.
• You will support the planning and execution of affiliate events, stakeholder meetings and communication activities, ensuring effective coordination and follow-up.
• You will manage communication calendars, content repositories and approval processes to support timely delivery of communication projects.
• You will support content creation and adaptation for digital and social media channels, ensuring consistency with AbbVie guidelines and communication objectives.
• You will ensure all communication materials and activities reflect AbbVie values, corporate identity standards, compliance requirements and applicable approval processes.
• You will build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and provide communications support to departments across the affiliate as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field.
• Some professional experience in communications, public relations, corporate affairs or a related environment, gained in a company, agency, consultancy or similar setting.
• Experience supporting the development and execution of internal and/or external communication activities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English.
• Experience drafting communication materials for different audiences and channels, including internal communications, presentations, briefing documents and digital content.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects and stakeholders while managing competing priorities.
• Experience working collaboratively across functions and building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Exposure to media relations, corporate reputation, stakeholder engagement or crisis communications would be an advantage.
• Experience in the healthcare, life sciences or pharmaceutical sector is preferred.
• Experience working with communications agencies, external vendors or project partners is an advantage.

Preferred

• Knowledge of the Portuguese healthcare system and healthcare communications environment.
• Understanding of media relations, communications planning and corporate reputation principles.
• Familiarity with digital communication channels, social media and emerging communication technologies.
• Experience supporting employee engagement, internal communications or change management initiatives.
