About the Role

Join Riskified's Analysis Platform group as a Team Lead. You'll lead a team responsible for building the systems that power Riskified's merchant order analysis - combining large-scale, real-time backend infrastructure with advanced browser and device fingerprinting to authenticate genuine users and stop fraud during online transactions.

The team owns its work end-to-end: from feature planning with Product and Design, through technology selection, architecture, coding, code review, and CI/CD deployment, all the way to post-deployment monitoring. As Team Lead, you'll set the technical direction, grow the team, and stay close enough to the code to lead from the front.

You'll be managing two complementary disciplines: backend engineers building highly scalable architectures for our machine learning systems and platforms (Scala, Spark, Kafka, Kubernetes), and security software engineers developing JavaScript and mobile techniques for fingerprinting, bot detection, and spoofing prevention. Your role is to bring these together into a cohesive, high-performing team.

What You'll Be Doing

- Lead talented backend and security software engineers as their direct manager, supporting their growth and development

- Run the team's Agile development process, working with Product to set objectives and build a development plan to achieve them

- Own the technical vision and architecture for highly scalable, real-time and batch systems that serve Riskified's core fraud-analysis offering

- Participate in hands-on development and code review

- Lead the hiring and onboarding of new team members

- Collaborate closely with research, data science, and product teams to define and implement new features and shape the roadmap

Qualifications

- 2+ years as a Team Leader, working with Agile methodologies

- 5+ years of proven hands-on experience developing large-scale, distributed, highly available cloud applications

- Strong server-side engineering background, ideally with Scala/Java; familiarity with stream processing and databases

- Experience or strong interest in web/mobile security, anti-fraud, or fingerprinting domains is an advantage

- Strong technical and product vision, and the ability to communicate it to multiple audiences

- Proven track record delivering enterprise solutions from design through production

- Ability to inspire, lead, and mentor high-performing senior engineers

- Ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment while staying focused on goals

- Strong customer focus, excellent communication and relationship-building skills

- B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent

We include transparent salary ranges to support fairness, clarity, and informed decision-making early in the process. The base salary range for this position is €70,000 - €90,000 gross annually for candidates based in Lisbon. Your actual salary will be determined based on your unique skills, experience, and competencies. If your expectations differ, please let us know - we’re always open to a conversation.

The base salary is one part of the total compensation package at Riskified. All full-time regular employees receive a bonus target and are eligible to receive stock-based awards.
