Data Engineer

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• We are looking for a Data Engineer in Porto with the mission of designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data platforms that support data storage, processing, orchestration, and analytics across the organization.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and high-performance data platforms;

• Develop and implement robust data pipelines and integration solutions to ensure efficient data flow across multiple systems;

• Collect, process, and analyze large and complex datasets from a variety of data sources;

• Design and implement data processing workflows using modern Big Data and data processing frameworks;

• Work closely with Data Scientists, Analysts, and cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and accessibility;

• Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance through the implementation of appropriate access controls and data encryption mechanisms;

• Extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources, including databases, file systems, APIs, and cloud-based platforms;

• Monitor platform performance and continuously optimize systems for scalability, reliability, and high availability;

• Contribute to the evolution and improvement of data architecture, platforms, and engineering best practices;

• Produce and maintain technical documentation related to data models, pipelines, processes, and platform architecture.

YOUR PROFILE

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field;

• Experience with cloud platforms and services for data engineering, preferably AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ;

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala ;

• Experience with Big Data technologies and frameworks such as Spark, Flink, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Hadoop, Hive, Sqoop, Flume, Impala, Kafka Streams & Connect, Druid , or similar;

• Strong understanding of data modeling, database design principles, and data architecture concepts;

• Experience with data integration and ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Apache Kafka, Talend, or similar);

• Knowledge of distributed systems and large-scale data processing architectures;

• Advanced SQL skills and hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases;

• Familiarity with cloud-based data services and storage solutions (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Data Factory, GCP services);

• Experience with version control systems, preferably Git ;

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail;

• Ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation;

• Advanced written and spoken English.
