About the Opportunity

You will join a globally distributed IT and business team responsible for an advanced electronic trading platform. The system uses high-performance hardware, network-stack bypass techniques, explicit CPU thread allocation, and modern C++ features to achieve ultra-low-latency execution.

The position involves developing algorithmic trading models, trading frameworks, market-data distribution services, and high-performance exchange connectors. As much of the work is greenfield, innovation, technical ownership, and continuous improvement will be central to your responsibilities.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an ultra-low-latency electronic trading platform.
• Build new algorithmic trading models and supporting frameworks.
• Develop market-data distribution services and exchange connectors.
• Create high-performance eTrading modules, components, and utilities.
• Ensure the platform meets demanding quality, security, reliability, and performance standards.
• Participate throughout the complete software development lifecycle.
• Conduct technical analysis, development, testing, documentation, and code reviews.
• Contribute to application architecture and technical design decisions.
• Refactor and migrate existing components to modern technologies and architectures.
• Take ownership of development, production support, CI/CD, maintenance, and bug fixing.
• Collaborate with production support teams on releases and component maintenance.
• Coordinate activities with global engineering, business, and support teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve latency, throughput, stability, and maintainability.
• Contribute innovative solutions to greenfield development initiatives.

Mandatory Requirements

• At least five years of professional software development experience.
• At least two years of experience as an IT Team Lead or Technical Lead.
• Strong recent professional experience with C++.
• Practical knowledge of one or more modern C++ standards: C++11, C++14, C++17, or C++20.
• Strong knowledge of STL and Boost.
• Experience with electronic trading platforms or other high-load, real-time systems.
• Good understanding of low-latency and high-performance software development.
• Strong knowledge of software design and architecture principles.
• Solid understanding of common data structures and algorithms.
• Confident working knowledge of Linux environments.
• Experience with Linux development tools, including CMake, GCC, and GDB.
• Experience working throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Practical experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with migration, modernisation, or code-refactoring projects.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
• Ability to collaborate with globally distributed teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Python development experience.
• Unix scripting or Bash experience.
• Knowledge of the FIX protocol.
• Experience with other financial-market or fintech communication protocols.
• Knowledge of algorithmic trading or electronic equities.
• Experience with exchange connectivity and market-data systems.
• Understanding of CPU affinity, multithreading, memory optimisation, and network-stack bypass.
• Experience supporting production systems and CI/CD pipelines.
• Previous experience in banking, fintech, capital markets, or financial services.

The Ideal Profile

The ideal candidate is a senior C++ engineer with a strong interest in performance-critical systems and complex technical challenges. You are comfortable optimising applications at the software, operating-system, CPU, and network levels while maintaining excellent standards of code quality, security, and reliability.

You combine hands-on development capabilities with technical leadership experience and can take ownership of components throughout their lifecycle—from architecture and implementation to deployment and production support. Experience in electronic trading is highly valuable, but professionals from other high-load, real-time environments may also be considered.
