Senior Backend Developer (Node.js/TypeScript) - Full Remote Portugal
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We're looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join a fast-growing, product-driven technology consultancy known for its lean, self-managed culture and diverse, collaborative teams. Our client fosters an environment built on ownership, freedom, and responsibility — where engineers are trusted to make decisions, take risks, and grow within an Agile, Lean mindset. This is a fully remote opportunity based in Portugal, working alongside a passionate team that genuinely cares about the products they build.
PROJECT & CONTEXT
You'll join a team building cloud-based, event-driven services, working closely with Front-End developers to deliver performant, secure, and resilient solutions. You'll take full ownership of your code — from design and development through deployment, monitoring, and production support — while contributing to an Agile team culture that values testing, documentation, and continuous delivery.
The team operates an on-call schedule, and participation is expected.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)
- Strong hands-on experience with Vanilla JavaScript and/or TypeScript, with modern frameworks such as React and Node.js
- Proven experience building performant, resilient, and secure backend services
- Solid understanding of asynchronous and event-driven workflows
- Experience with architectural patterns and protocols such as REST, and/or GraphQL
- Strong testing discipline and commitment to writing testable, maintainable code
- Self-driven, able to work autonomously with minimal supervision toward shared team goals
- English proficiency: B2 (Upper Intermediate) minimum
NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores
- Knowledge of service-oriented architectures, design patterns, and data structures
- Comfortable with Git-based version control in a continuous delivery process
- Experience with code quality tools (linters, type checkers, static analysis)
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
- Experience integrating systems such as warehouse management or eCommerce platforms
Compensation: €2,000 – €2,350/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
