As an Application Security (AppSec) Engineer with a strong focus on AI Security and Security Testing, you will play a key role in advancing secure software development at Kuehne+Nagel. Working within our global AppSec team, you will help shape the next generation of security capabilities, combining modern security testing with emerging AI security challenges. This role offers significant opportunities to shape security practices, introduce new approaches and technologies, and take ownership of initiatives that help advance application security across our large global engineering organization.

How you create impact

• Perform hands-on security assessments and penetration testing of Kuehne+Nagel applications while contributing to the continuous improvement of automated security testing capabilities.
• Support the secure adoption of AI-assisted development by developing scalable security capabilities, defining guardrails, and helping engineering teams securely leverage AI-powered tools and workflows.
• Advance security testing capabilities for both traditional and AI-enabled applications by evaluating new testing methodologies, AI-assisted techniques, and emerging security tools.
• Evaluate emerging AI threats and attack techniques, validate their relevance to Kuehne+Nagel, and translate findings into security requirements, standards, testing approaches, and developer-focused guidance.
• Provide expert guidance, training, and hands-on support to engineering teams and stakeholders, helping to strengthen secure software development practices across the organization.
• Work closely with the global AppSec team on a broad range of initiatives, with responsibilities and focus areas shaped by your strengths, experience, and business needs.

What we would like you to bring

• 5+ years of experience in Application Security, including hands-on security testing and test automation.
• Passion for AI technologies and AI security, with experience in securing and testing LLM-powered applications, agentic AI systems, and AI-assisted development practices. Familiarity with AI platforms, gateways, and related tooling such as LiteLLM, Amazon Bedrock, AgentCore, and AI security testing tools like Strix is a plus.
• Ability to analyze emerging attack techniques and security trends, including AI-specific threats such as (indirect) prompt injection, and tool abuse, translating them into actionable security requirements, controls, testing approaches, and best practices.
• Strong software engineering background, ideally in enterprise environments, with strong Python skills and, ideally, experience with Java.
• A collaborative mindset – you enjoy working with international, cross-functional teams and driving alignment across stakeholders.
• Good communication skills with fluency in English (written and verbal), and the ability to clearly articulate security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
